Plan B Contraception

Plan B (R) is a method of contraception. It does not cause abortion. It prevents ovulation. It maintains the uterine lining in readiness for pregnancy. If you were about to release an egg, it tells your body not to release it just yet.

If you have unprotected sex—rape, broken condom, impulse, forceful boyfriend, blackout at a party—and do not want to get pregnant, see your doctor immediately for a prescription. You might want to get a prescription in advance so that you can fill it when you need it.
"Remember that you have only a few days to prevent a pregnancy after unprotected sex. If it is taken within 3 days (72 hours) after unprotected sex, it will decrease the chance that you will get pregnant by 89%."
